This picture was taken on the canal bridge looking north towards what is now the Strand shopping centre.
The building next to the bridge on the right was Parr's Bank in 1933. The building still stands today. It is now Ladbrokes Bookmakers.
Note the police box on the left. The building next to it was Barclays Bank. It is now a video shop.
Out of picture, to the left of the police
box is now the site of Bootle's main post office and sorting
depot
