Strand/Stanley Rd Bootle.
From the position currently occupied by Marks and Spencers in the Strand looking towards Litherland.
The big building is the Metropole theatre, which was flattened in the blitz. It did attract all the stars of the day, most notably Stan Laurel (pre-Ollie unfortunately).
Just out of the picture to the right is a big house, the top half of which you can still see above the solicitors opposite the bus stops at the strand.
